I have been experimenting lately with thinner flies with skinny legs. I'm thinking these may work better for the small streams I fish.
Possible grass carp fly.
These were custom tied by a friend. They are made for going deep. The segmented look of the body is actually a steel wrap. Pretty cool. I wanted to try these out this weekend but the rain changed my plans. The weather lately has sucked.
Wheres the whitie? Those bottom bugs are way nice!! Heavy and Leggy, just the way they lick em
ReplyDeleteI'm going to work on the white ones today. Yeah the stonefly patterns are sweet. The pictures don't do them justice.
ReplyDeleteThose stoneflies look nice! A friend and I have been designing some bass flies the past couple of months. He just finished up the first round and they should be in the mail to test shortly. If all goes as planned, these could be a sweet new pattern for fly fishers. We are both really excited!
ReplyDeleteThose are some really nice flies! Your Stonefly patterns look like the real bug. I like the look of your sinking flies, too. Since this article, have you fished them enough to tell whether the eyes are hanging up on underwater debris? For freshwater, I have reverted to almost strictly coneheads due to the numerous tree stumps that steal my flies. Thanks for Phishing your flies.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how the flies are swimming but I haven't had any problems with snags. Fish inhale them too. I rarely have a lip hook up with these.
