Watch Your Step

This is how the small creek I fished looked over the weekend. It was very dangerous. The dry leaves covered the water running just underneath. In some places it hid where there was wet rock. A couple times I stepped on what I thought was solid ground only to have all the leaves move at once. I took some nasty falls and I was lucky to not get hurt. The leaves are beautiful but the experience reminded me they can also be a hazard. Watch your step out there.

  1. That's crazy, have never seen water look like that before with so many leaves.
Guess you can't even fish sections like that.

    1. It makes it tough. There were holes in between the leaves. The tough part was managing your drift without touching the leaves. Sometimes it was impossible.

  2. I suspect that a wading staff would have come in handy poking the ground ahead. Glad you didn't get hurt.

    1. I have been debating getting a wading staff for years. I really should carry one. I always feel like I carry too much stuff to begin with and that's just one more thing. It's probably best to be safe than sorry.

  6. It's a trap!! I can't believe all of the leaf fall in that picture. That's really something. Great photographs, too. Good to hear you came out unscathed.
