Nice Way To Start Fall

Hit a DH with my mother today and had a great time. I caught the usual average stocked trout.
It was fitting that my mom caught the biggest fish of the day.

  5. Was wondering if you fished a tail water and if any brookies overwinter there. Nice to fish with a mom, in any case.

    1. I haven't fished any tailwaters in NC. Some brookies do overwinter but they are mainly small ones. 12inches or smaller. All of the fish we caught on this day were stockers. Unfortunately a lot of the habitat is getting destroyed by sedimentation from development. People are clearing forests and trees that filter out the sediment before it hits the stream. This river had more than I have seen in the last 3yrs. Some deep pools were now just a foot deep.

  6. Nice pictures. I fished a NC DH Friday, breaking my trout skunk! I'm really falling in love with coldwater fishing.
