I agree the 6 wt would probably be a good bet for the smallies.Bill Trussellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15351692272817692157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148053610537598768.post-37541998207153575722012-06-19T12:51:34.496-07:002012-06-19T12:51:34.496-07:00Bill, for the smallies I use an 8wt 8'6. Honestly you'd be fine fishing a 5wt for most of the fish caught. I'm really considering getting the Cabelas Glass Rod, the 8wt 7'6 or the 6wt. I like that short length and it's hard to find.Feather Chuckerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17816824282816730471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148053610537598768.post-9030662067406210412012-06-19T07:40:39.771-07:002012-06-19T07:40:39.771-07:00Kev

I guess the mark of a great fly fisherman is to land fish that has been fished heavy. That is the case most of the time for all of us. What wt/length fly rod were you using? The craw is my favorite for the Samllies and Spots. Glad you were able to make a connection.
